West Notts College

On 26th June, the Leaning & Skills Council announced the 13 FE colleges to receive funding, following revelations of a shortfall in the college rebuild budget. West Notts College has missed out on this round of funding, delaying plans for a £96m super-college. WNC is now seeking other funding routes. See news pages for details.

Technology Park

Mansfield District Council has granted full permission for phase one of Rushley Farm techology park and incubation centre. The plans are on hold until West Notts College finds alternative funding to take its plans for the super-college forward.

Lindhurst

A proposal is being put forward for a new neighbourhood for Mansfield, comprising land for up to 4,000 jobs, up to 1,700 homes and new facilities for the community. Welcome to the Sherwood Growth Zone Partnership

The Sherwood Growth Zone Partnership is the body in charge of achieving sensitive, well-designed developments that will provide the right kinds of jobs, houses and services in the right locations for people in the Mansfield and Ashfield area.

The Sherwood Growth Zone stretches from junctions 27 and 28 of the M1, moves east to include the Mansfield and Ashfield conurbation and reaches out into the Newark and Sherwood district at Rainworth.

The partnership is comprised of organisations with a strategic interest in and statutory responsibility for the economic development of the zone. These include Ashfield District Council, Mansfield District Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council, West Nottinghamshire College (as a major employer and provider of local employment skills) and Nottinghamshire County Council: which provides the partnership with the funding it needs to operate.
